Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

We are gathering up all the hair! When children lose their hair, they don’t just struggle physically. The change in their appearance can drastically undermine their self-image and sabotage their self-esteem. To help heal the pain of these struggles, Certified Cosmetic Therapist Jeffrey Paul founded Wigs For Kids, a nonprofit organization that has been serving children experiencing hair loss since 1981.

Wigs For Kids brings together stylists and hair donors who want to help children dealing with medical issues and treatments like alopecia, trichotillomania, burns, chemotherapy or any other medical causes of hair loss. When the right connections are made, regular people can make real changes in these children’s lives every single day. All it takes is the right hairstylist with the right pair of scissors and someone willing to donate a ponytail! They never charge for their hair replacement systems. The process for creating these hairpieces takes time, and the cost of producing each human hair wig runs in excess of $1,800.  Thanks in large part to generous donors, they are able to offer our hairpieces free of charge to eligible recipients because they believe all kids deserve the ability to look themselves and live their lives.

Join our St. Jude fundraising team, raise a minimum of $200 for the St. Jude Children's Hospital and we will celebrate you on 11/30 at the Arnot Mall event center where you’ll receive a complimentary haircut and full style while making a difference for a child suffering the trauma of hair loss. Every $100 raised will get you 1 ticket to enter into the main prize zone raffle of your choice.

What exactly does St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital do?

St. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

Their mission statement

“The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of our founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family's ability to pay.”

Who they are

“Located in Memphis, Tennessee, St. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Through groundbreaking treatment and research methods, expert staff and our community of supporters, St. Jude provides customized care for some of the world's sickest children.”

What is St. Jude known for?

“St. Jude specializes in care for some of the toughest pediatric cases, all while investing in resources and technologies for cutting-edge scientific research. And families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — so they can focus on helping their child live.

Unlike other hospitals, the majority of funding for St. Jude comes from generous donors.”

Seeking treatment at St. Jude?

“Our approach makes us different from most children’s hospitals. St. Jude is the first and only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center devoted solely to children. St. Jude has also been named among the top children’s cancer hospitals in the United States by U.S. News & World Report since the ranking was first published in 2008.

They treat children with cancer, blood disorders, neurological disorders, infectious diseases, and other related life-threatening diseases. Acceptance to St. Jude may be based on potential eligibility for an open clinical trial.

St. Jude has helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% in 1962 to 80% today. They won’t stop until no child dies from cancer.”
